As part of the Nym roadmap targeting a best-in-class network level privacy service, Nym has partnered with the Swiss brokerage Bity SA (Bity) to make it easier to access native NYM tokens and participate in operating the Nym privacy network. NYM tokens are the utility token of the Nym mixnet. The Nym mixnet is a powerful overlay network that protects not just your IP address, but also your patterns of communication and metadata.
Native NYM tokens allow people to take part in running the mixnet by “bonding” a node. For those regular folks who do not want to run a mixnode, you can still contribute to ensuring strong privacy protections by staking NYM tokens on well performing mixnodes. This ensures the quality of the network and allows you to earn rewards for doing so!
This important building block of a partnership and integration with a payment gateway with Bity will boost convenience for the Nym community, with steady usage already seen since the latest release.
How does it work?
If you already have the latest version of the Nym wallet, you will have noticed the new “Buy” button. The service is provided by Bity enabling people to buy tokens using BTC. There is a purchase limit of 1,000 Swiss Francs per day.
The “Buy NYM’’ button will take you to Bity’s website where you need to agree to the terms of service (please note this feature is not available to users in the United States). Bity will then give you a message that you need to copy and sign in your Nym wallet interface, confirming that you submitted the correct wallet address. You then send Bity the BTC and they will send you your NYM tokens directly to your wallet so you can start bonding and delegating stake and contributing to the global mixnet.
