February has been a busy month stocking NymVPN with everything it needs for departure. The NymVPN apps were optimized and rebranded across the board. AmneziaWG was launched to provide censorship resistance by default on the Fast Mode. And gateway selection was made live for all apps so people can choose their preferred node operators in a location. The kill switch is being finalized across apps.

Countdown to launch of NymVPN

NymVPN has seen three releases since January: Mirabelle, Nectarine, and Oroblanco. NymVPN Papaya will go live this week before the official commercial launch of NymVPN on 13 March 2025. This version will add a much needed kill switch on top of all features now available: the system of unlinkable payments, AmneziaWG, and gateway selection.

Zk-nym payment system

Nym’s anonymous access credentials are now live for community testing to full-proof the payment and subscription process. Anyone can now purchase the app with debit/credit cards and NYM. Payments in other cryptocurrencies like BTC will be available soon.

Gateway selection

With NymVPN Oroblanco, gateway selection is now live for all platforms. In addition to choosing the location of your entry and exit gateways, you can now pick the specific operator you’d like to use based on their performance scores and stake.

AmneziaWG

NymVPN now uses AmneziaWG, a fork of the WireGuard, as the default routing protocol for the Fast Mode. This gives all users censorship resistance against Deep Packet Inspection surveillance. Learn more about Nym’s plans for censorship resistance in 2025.

Chain upgrades

The Nym team completed three Nyx chain upgrades this month. The first prepared the way for zk-nym issuance, and the second two patched security vulnerabilities on Cosmos in record time.

Security audits

The Nym team has published the results of multiple security audits of the Nym networks and apps, particularly the system-wide audit conducted by Cure53 in July of 2025. All audit reports and responses are publicly available, and a recent presentation by one of the auditors can be viewed here.

Bring the NOISE!

We received lots of quality submissions in the contest to generate the most cover traffic with NymVPN in recent weeks. One in particular stood out with over 27 hours of connection time using the Anonymous Mode: big congrats to January’s champ Beyond.

Events

All sights are now set on the launch of NymVPN, which will be presented to journalists and interested parties on 13 March 2015 at the Frontline Club in London, England.

For Nym, the Frontline Club is an historic locale: it is the London home of independent and investigative journalism. The club has amongst others hosted Julian Assange in the time of some of Wikileaks most impactful releases of war crimes committed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

With the past year being one of the most deadly for journalists, enabling secure communication for the freedom of information is one of the most important use-cases for NymVPN.

We will be livestreaming from the Frontline club where we will be joined by Chelsea Manning and Doctors Without Borders.
