NymVPN is partnering with Ledger: Hardware security meets network privacy
Network-level privacy for your crypto, free for a year on the brand new Ledger Atom

Share
Your crypto is only as private as the network it travels over. A hardware wallet keeps your keys offline and out of reach. But it can't hide the fact that you're transacting, where you are, or which wallet is yours. That part happens on the network, in the open. And surveillance and hackers are actively harvesting your metadata to track and exploit.
That's why NymVPN is partnering with Ledger. Every user of the Ledger Atom will get NymVPN built in, with one full year free. The most trusted hardware for crypto, now on the most private network to use it.
Meet the Ledger Atom

The Ledger Atom is a security and privacy device that runs your everyday apps. It isn't built to replace your phone: it's built to secure you where your phone can't. Two operating systems share one device, with Ledger's own secure OS running on a dedicated secure chip alongside Android for everyday apps, and the Atom switches into a protected Secure Mode whenever you approve something sensitive, from a crypto transaction to an AI agent's next action.
Security runs through the hardware. The Atom carries Ledger's most advanced anti-tampering measures to date, encrypted messaging, and post-quantum cryptography accelerated in the chip itself. It even has a physical privacy switch that cuts power to the cameras and microphone at the circuit level, so no software can turn them back on.
The Ledger Atom is expected in Summer 2027, with reservations open now for a limited Founder's Edition. Read more in Ledger's announcement on X.
What is Ledger?
Ledger is a French company that has spent over a decade building the hardware that keeps crypto safe. Founded in 2014, it makes hardware wallets: small, offline devices that store the private keys to your crypto.
Those keys are everything. Whoever holds them controls the funds. A hardware wallet generates your keys inside a dedicated secure chip and never lets them leave it. When you make a transaction, the device signs it internally and sends out only the signed result. Your keys stay offline, isolated from the phones and computers where malware, phishing, and network attacks do their work. This is what people mean by cold storage, and it's the single most effective defense against having your crypto stolen.
Ledger is the most widely used name in the category. It has sold more than 8 million devices across 165 countries, and says it secures almost 30% of all Bitcoin and more than 30% of the dollar stablecoins held by retail investors. Its security is backed by Ledger Donjon, an in-house white-hat team respected across the industry.
NymVPN privacy, free for a year
Through this partnership, every Ledger Atom user will get NymVPN installed and ready to use, with a full year of the subscription free. No separate signup, no extra cost: network privacy is part of the device from the moment it's switched on.
NymVPN is the world's most private VPN. Where a normal VPN hides your IP address, NymVPN also hides your traffic patterns, the metadata that shows who you talk to, when, and how much. For anyone moving money on-chain, that network layer is exactly where financial privacy is won or lost.
How to access it: More details on the Ledger Atom's availability and how Ledger users claim their NymVPN subscription are coming soon. In the meantime, you can try NymVPN for free today.

The Nym <> Ledger partnership matters for crypto privacy
Crypto was supposed to be private. In practice, it isn't. Public blockchains record every transaction permanently, and the network you connect through can tie your real-world identity to your wallet, your balance, and your activity. AI-powered analysis makes linking all of it together easier every year, and chain-surveillance firms already do it for a living.
Security and privacy are not the same problem, and they are not solved at the same layer. Ledger solves the custody problem: it protects the keys. But protecting the keys does nothing to hide the network traffic around them. Your IP address still links you to your transactions. Your metadata still leaks. The Atom can even cut power to its own cameras and microphone, but to stay useful it still has to reach the internet, and that connection is visible to the network.
That's the layer NymVPN protects. Hardware secures what you own. The network decides what everyone else can see. A complete answer to crypto privacy needs both, and this partnership puts both in one device.
How NymVPN protects your money and crypto
NymVPN is built on the Noise Generating Mixnet, a decentralized network designed to defeat the one thing ordinary VPNs and Tor leave exposed: traffic analysis.
A regular VPN routes your traffic through a single company's server. It hides your IP from the sites you visit, but that company can still see everything you do, and a powerful observer watching the network can still match your incoming and outgoing traffic by timing and size. The Noise Generating Mixnet breaks that link. It routes your traffic through multiple independent nodes, reorders it, and mixes it with cover traffic from other users, so no one, including Nym, can follow a packet from you to its destination.
For crypto, that means the network can't connect your IP address to your wallet or your transactions. Your bandwidth is paid for with anonymous credentials (zk-nyms), so even the payment for the VPN reveals nothing about who you are. You get the speed of dVPN mode for everyday browsing, and Mixnet mode for the moments that matter.
The most trusted hardware, on the most private network
Ledger made crypto safe to hold. NymVPN makes it private to use. Brought together, you don't have to choose.
