VPN (Virtual Private Network)

A VPN (Virtual Private Network) is a routing service (sometimes called a proxy) for users' connection with the public web. When connected to the VPN, all traffic should be routed through the VPN's servers as an intermediary via an encrypted tunnel. So when a connection with made with the web, it will appear that the VPN server is the source and not the user. There are different types of VPN architectures, ranging from single-server (centralized VPNs), multi-server decentralized VPNs (dVPNs), and mixnets like NymVPN.
