Update NymVPN ahead of an upcoming network upgrade

Nym will running a scheduled upgrade to part of the network that keeps NymVPN private. It changes nothing you'll see in the app, but there's one thing worth doing now to avoid any interruption: make sure you're on the latest release. Nym is built to keep your VPN access unlinkable to your identity, and this upgrade strengthens exactly that.

What's happening

NymVPN issues anonymous credentials zk-nyms through a decentralized set of independent operators, so that your access to the network can't be tied back to who you are. Nym is rotating that system's signing keys and refreshing the operators who run it. The result is a more robust, more decentralized foundation for the credentials that protect your privacy.

For most people this is invisible. If you're on the latest version, your connection keeps working throughout the upgrade. Older versions may be briefly unable to fetch new credentials while it happens, which can interrupt new connections or fresh sign-ins. This is why you should upgrade now.

When will the upgrade happen?

We will announce the exact date soon. There's nothing to wait for: updating now means you're ready whenever it happens.
