Introducing 1-click connections on NymVPN
Four new ways to pick your VPN server, and one click for every one of them

Every VPN asks the same question the moment you open it: which server? Some people might just guess, and choosing a good entry and exit server by hand takes time you might not have. NymVPN now connects in one click, with Safest as the smart default, plus Random for enhanced anonymity. Server selection now also includes Favorites and Recents to remember your choices and and easily find the best set ups for you.

Safest: The secure default

Safest is now the default at both ends of the connection: NymVPN selects a strong-performing server in a nearby country that isn't yours, for both entry and exit, so you never have to think about where to connect. So if you're connecting in China, it'll choose high-performing servers in Taiwan or Japan rather than Colombia.
A VPN's entry server is the one node that necessarily learns your real IP address. Put that node in your own country and it sits under the same laws, the same courts, and the same data retention rules you opened a VPN to get out from under. Safest avoids that by design, and nearby keeps the speed cost low.
NymVPN's solution is architectural, so this doesn't depend on trust. NymVPN is a decentralized VPN (dVPN), so its nodes are run by independent operators instead of by one company sitting in one country. Whether you're using the dVPN mode or the Mixnet mode, no single node ever sees both who you are and what you are doing.
That is what a no-logs claim looks like when architecture enforces it instead of a policy promising it. Safest hardens the same property one layer down: the node that does see your IP address is not one your own government can coerce.
Note: Safest picks the strongest option near you, not necessarily the fastest VPN server available. The fastest server might likely be one inside your own country, which is exactly what Safest avoids.
Random: A different server every time

Random picks an available server for your entry, your exit, or both: a new route every time you connect. Where Safest optimizes for a strong, nearby option, Random optimizes for unpredictability. Connect today and connect tomorrow, and nothing about the route has to repeat.
That matters against traffic analysis, which looks for exactly this kind of pattern: the same entry server, the same exit server, session after session. Random breaks the pattern by design.
Note: Random doesn't account for distance. An entry server on the other side of the world, or an entry and exit far apart from each other, will cost you speed. If performance matters more than unpredictability, Safest is the better default.
Favorites and Recents: Your servers, one click away
Two smaller additions make manual selection faster, for whenever you do want to choose:

- Favorites: Tap the heart next to any server to save it, for your entry or exit. Your favorites are one click away the next time you connect.
- Recents: NymVPN keeps a list of the servers you've connected to lately, so getting back to yesterday's setup doesn't mean rebuilding it.

What's next: Profiles
Profiles are coming next: save a specific entry-and-exit combination under a name, and switch to it in one click. Instead of rebuilding "office" or "streaming" from the server menu every time, a profile remembers it for you.
Choice is a privacy feature too
A privacy tool that depends on the user making the right call every single time is not much of a privacy tool. That's what Safest is for. A privacy tool that forces one right way to do things isn't much better: that's what Random, Favorites, Recents, and soon Profiles are for. Connect however fits you. It's still one click.
