Versions: Android v2026.14 | iOS v2026.14 | macOS v2026.14 | Windows v2026.14 | Linux v2026.14

If you use NymVPN on Android, v2026.14 is a big one. Most of the work in this release went into making the Android app safer and clearer. The most sensitive thing the app holds, your recovery phrase and account, is now locked behind your device's biometric or PIN (your choice), and the screens you use every day are faster and more reliable.

Every platform gets something too: connection errors that no longer fail silently, and a clear notice when your app needs updating. NymVPN is private by design: this release makes it harder to expose.

Here's what's new:

  • Stronger Android security: your recovery phrase and account are now locked behind your device's biometric or PIN
  • Clearer data controls and a smoother Android app: better data-sharing choices, and a faster, more reliable server list
  • Honest connection errors: DNS failures are reported instead of failing silently, on every platform
  • Update notices: a clear heads-up when your app needs updating to keep working

Stronger security and privacy on Android

Your account is the key to your privacy, so it should be the hardest thing to get at. v2026.14 gives the Android app a focused security and privacy pass, building on the Android hardening in v2026.13.

Your account keys, locked down

Your recovery phrase and account details are now guarded by your device's biometric or PIN. They're masked by default and auto-hidden after 10 seconds, so a glance over your shoulder, or a moment with your unlocked phone, no longer exposes the keys to your account.

⚠️ Note: It is not required to use any biometrics with NymVPN. This is a security option Android provides you in addition to PIN protection. It is your choice which to use.

Clearer control over your data

The welcome screen now gives you clearer control over what data, if any, you share, and the data-sharing consent toggles are honored exactly as you set them. What you choose is what happens.

A smoother Android app

The parts of the app you touch most are quicker and steadier: the server list scrolls faster, servers that were sometimes untappable now respond, and the list opens on your current selection instead of scrolling you back to the top.

Connection errors you can see

Connecting should just work, and when it doesn't, you should know why. Before this release, a DNS resolver failure could fail silently, leaving you unsure whether you were really protected. Now those failures are reported plainly, alongside clearer error messages across the app. Fewer silent failures means fewer moments spent guessing whether the tunnel is actually up.

A clear notice when an update is required

Running an outdated app can mean missing security fixes, or hitting features that no longer work. NymVPN now tells you clearly when your version needs updating and points you to the update, instead of failing in ways that are hard to diagnose.

Smaller updates

  • Daily allowance in your local time zone: the daily bandwidth reset time now shows in your own time zone, on every platform
  • More precise geo-exclusion: each destination IP is now routed individually, for finer control over what leaves the tunnel than split tunneling alone
  • Command-line auto-completion: shell auto-completion for the nym-vpnc tool now ships with the macOS, .deb, and Arch packages
  • Linux: the .deb package now installs the correct polkit authentication agent, so privilege prompts work across desktop environments

Fixes by platform

  • All apps: a more complete data wipe when you clear local storage; fixed a crash in the SQLite routine
  • iOS: fixed a crash on launch when the device was locked at boot; the network-stats preference is now saved consistently
  • macOS: the "bandwidth exceeded" message now points you to Account Status
