Nym Delegations Program
Nym Network is an advanced privacy network run by independent server operators all over the world. Want to join and help protect internet privacy?
The Delegations Program is run by the Nym team to help get servers up and running in underserved parts of the world and give new operators a good start.
The program delegates stake to your Nym node so you have a better chance of getting in the Network active set, start routing traffic and earning rewards.
What is the Delegations Program?
The Delegations Program is an official staking program that delegates from the Nym token treasury to good quality server operators. This helps new operators get up and running and helps the Nym team to boost servers in locations where they are needed most.
Join the program, get stake!
What do you get?
The Nym treasury will delegate 50% of stake saturation (up to 125k NYM tokens) on your node. This is plenty for your server to be selected to route traffic and start earning rewards. We recommend that you “self-bond” rewards as much as possible as this guarantees better earnings.
As your node gains more stake, you will begin to graduate from the Delegations Program: when you reach 90% saturation, 25k NYMs will be undelegated.
As you near 100% saturation, more NYMs will be undelegated until finally you are 100% independently saturated.
Requirements:
- Nodes applying to the delegations program must be on the latest version.
- Nodes Stake saturation must be under 75%.
- Every
nym-node
in DP must run on a single purpose server / VM with Debian based OS, dedicated for this process. - Gateway nodes must:
- Run with these arguments
--mode exit-gateway --wireguard-enabled true
- Have WSS and Reverse proxy configured
- Follow legal suggestions
- Run with these arguments
While in the program:
- When accepted to the program, you must keep your node up to date and be on one of last 3 versions: Latest, prior and prior.
- Operators must follow the minimum requirements, except nodes in pre-agreed locations allowed for lower specs.
- Nodes in DP must be up and running and keep their uptime above 90% (except in the immediate post upgrade time when the node was restarted and its routing score dropped).
- Only nodes accepting T&C's are eligible for DP (run with the flag
--accept-operator-terms-and-conditions
). - Nodes down for 5 continuous days will lose DP stake.
Note the program is responsive to the need of the Nym Network users and can therefore change scope at any time to focus on new regions or adjust the required specs.
Have questions? Join the operator community
Join Telegram or Matrix and find @serinko or @merve from the Nym core team or ask the other operators! Everyone is very friendly and welcoming.
The Nym Network isn't only a bunch of servers, but also a social organism. This decentralized web of individuals, companies, and collectives (squads, DAOs, etc) all collaborate to provide privacy: this is the very foundation of the Nym mission. This also means that if there are several competing servers up for delegations, community participation, presence in channels and timely responses will be taken into consideration in the success of your application.
Important things to note
- Software updates happen about once a week and are shared in the Element(Matrix) announcement channel.
- We encourage Operators to run servers collectively as squads/ DAOs. This ensures that you wont miss important updates and risk losing your delegations if you need to touch grass and take a holiday.
- We understand that there may be exceptional reasons for nodes being down or operators being unable to fix their issues within 5 days. If you have any issues please contact any of the mentors and we will find a solution.
- Exceptions to required specs are made in a written form between Nym DevRel and the operator and takes priority over general rules.
- There are hundreds of nodes in DP and the Nym team is small. We therefore don't have capacity to give advance notice to operators before undelegating if their service no longer meets requirements.
- But don’t worry, you can always reapply and get your delegations back!
