The Nym Squad League (NSL), launched in early 2024, is a framework designed to empower community contributions of all shapes and sizes through grants. The NSL has just wrapped up its Fall Season, marking the completion of its first full year. As we kick off what promises to be the most exciting and impactful year in Nym’s history – with the commercial launch of NymVPN set for 13 March 2025 – let’s take a look back at what we’ve achieved and what’s ahead.

Wrapping up the first year of NSL

NSL is powered by the Squad Wealth Fund (SWF), a community treasury funded through Nym’s token economic model:

The Nym treasury stakes on community-operated nodes via the Nym Delegations Program
Staking rewards are transferred to the SWF quarterly

In 2024, the SWF generated a total income of 2.3 million NYM tokens, of which 1.3 M NYM tokens were distributed to the community in grants to support impactful contributions across the ecosystem.

This year’s community contributions include:

Spectre Explorer – A fully-featured Nym network explorer by SpectreDAO, quickly becoming a community favorite
Nym Delegations Program Manager – A tool by community member Pawnflake to oversee Nym’s delegation operations, registrations, and auditing.
NymChat Python App (in progress) – A messaging client using Nym’s mixnet via WebSocket
Representing Nym around the globe: The community organized and attended 55 events, workshops, and conferences around the globe
NymVPN localization – Now available in seven languages thanks to community grants
Four regional Nym communities – Fully managed and supported by contributors through grants

Winter Season and beyond: NSL in 2025

The SWF enters 2025 with a solid foundation, starting the year with 1 million NYM tokens in reserve. Over the past year, the budget of the Nym Delegations Program increased significantly, from the initial 30 M NYM tokens to 40 M, and finally reaching 70 M by the end of 2024. This more than doubling of the budget translates into a projected quarterly income of around 1 M NYM tokens for the SWF.

One of the major initiatives supported by this additional income is the upcoming NymVPN referral program, which is set to become the best in the industry, offering exclusive token rewards for NSL contributors. With the Winter Season running until the end of March, the referral program is expected to launch before the season concludes, so stay tuned for further details!
